En Irlande : l'improbable

‘In Ireland the inevitable never happens and the unexpected constantly occurs.’

~ Irish classicist and scholar Sir John Pentland Mahaffy (1839-1919)

Never a truer word was said! This scene, for example, could be straight out of a fairytale. If you’ve ever read the Three Billy Goats Gruff, you’ll know that the heroes of the tale are three goats who needed to outsmart a hungry troll in order to cross a bridge to their feeding ground. This herd of wild goats are pictured crossing a stunning natural sea arch against an evening sky on a tiny island in Roaringwater Bay, County Cork. Beth Cradick is the photographer, she was camping on the abandoned island at the time and said it was a ‘really magical scene’. I don’t doubt that for a moment, thank you Beth for capturing the scene for us all to enjoy!

En Irlande l'inévitable jamais n'arrive et l'inattendu sans cesse arrive

Sir John Pentland Mahaffy
