I am this one                                                            Je suis celui là 

walking beside me whom I do not see,                   Qui marche près de moi , que je ne vois pas 

whom at times I manage to visit,                            Que parfois je parviens à visiter 

and whom at other times I forget;                           Que d'autres fois, j'oublie 

who remains calm and silent while I talk,               Qui reste calme et se tait pendant que je parle           

and forgives, gently, when I hate,                           Qui pardonne, gentiment, quand je hais 

who walks where I am not,                                     Qui marche là où jeune suis pas 

who will remain standing when I die.                     Qui demeurera vivant quand je mourrai
