Bodhidharma

 Bodhidharma était assis, face à un mur, dans une grotte située au-dessus de Shaolin. Il y était demeuré neuf années durant, éconduisant tous ceux qui venaient à lui. Un Moine nommé Shen-Kuang resta dehors toute une nuit dans la neige.

À l'aube la neige lui arrivait au-dessus des genoux.

Bodhidharma lui demanda : « Que veux-tu ? »

Shen-kuang lui répondit : « Mon esprit n’est pas en paix. Maître, je vous en prie, apaisez-le. » Bodhidharma dit :« Apporte-moi ton esprit, et je l’apaiserai pour toi. Un long silence s’installa.

Shen-kuang dit : Je l’ai cherché, mais je ne parviens pas à le trouver.»

Bodhidharma déclara : « Tu vois. Je l’ai apaisé. »

Attribué traditionnellement à Bodhidharma et à Huine son successeur

Bodhidharma sat facing a wall in a cave above Shaolin. He has sat there 9 years and had turned away everyone who came. A monk named Shen -Kuang stood outside in the snow through the night . By dawn it was passed his knees. Bodhigharma said : " What de you want ?"Shen-Kuang said : " My mind is not at peace. Master, please pacify it " Bodhidharma said : "Bring me your mind and I will pacify it for you ." There was a long pause. Shen-Kuang said :" I have searched for it and can't find it . " Bodhidharma said : There. I have pacified it."
